Eco-friendly homes built in less than 48 hours set for Leamington

ECO-FRIENDLY homes which can be built in less than 48 hours could be an answer to providing more housing in the district.

Warwick District Council has submitted an application to build six sustainable properties on Turpin Court, off Tachbrook Road, where garages previously stood.

They feature insulated panels and ‘fully fitted-out’ kitchen and bathroom pods made offsite by company Innovare before being assembled on site – often in less than two days.

The council believes the pilot project could provide a long term solution to providing much-needed housing using sustainable materials.

A spokesman said: “The development will serve as a pilot site for utilising modern methods of construction on council-owned brownfield land for new, energy efficient, affordable homes that would be owned and managed by the district council.

“The programme seeks to respond to the recently declared climate change emergency through a design that utilises sustainable technologies.”
