Leamington Editorial 20th Jun, 2017   0

TENNIS is coming home.

Estate agent on Euston Place, which is just a few minutes walk from Avenue Road where Leamington Lawn Tennis Club, the first ever lawn tennis club in the world, was founded in 1872.

That was three years before the world’s most famous club at Wimbledon was established.

With Wimbledon fortnight fast approaching Shortland Horne will be serving up the opportunity for youngsters in the town to win £500 of tennis kit for their school.

To enter they need to visit the Euston Place branch before August 31 and count the number of tennis balls in the window.

Correct entries will go into a draw to win the sports kit, and each youngster will receive a tennis ball for taking part.

Shortland Horne director Laura Shortland said: “We wanted to do something to support local children to get in to sport and to have some fun while they are doing it.

“As a business we’re keen to get involved with the community and Wimbledon fortnight provides the ideal opportunity to reach out to local schools.”
