RESIDENTS are invited to a meeting to discuss the upcoming climate tax referendum in Warwick district.
The event is being held by Extinction Rebellion members on Saturday (March 7) at 1.45 pm at Kenilworth’s Senior Citizen’s Club.
There will be a talk explaining the causes and effects of climate change and how communities can work together to tackle it.
There will also be an opportunity to debate the May 7 referendum.
If residents vote in favour, Warwick District Council plan to create a ‘climate action fund’ which would generate £3million per year – a rise in the district council’s portion of the council tax bill – which is around ten per cent of the total bill – of just over £50 a year for a Band D household.
The pot would be used to help make homes and businesses more energy efficient, improve air quality, and enhance green spaces.
