Extra police patrols in Warwickshire's town centres over Christmas

THERE will be extra police patrols around pubs and clubs in Warwickshire over the Christmas and New Year period.

The move is part of Warwickshire Police’s Operation Assure that will see additional uniformed patrols in busy town centres on what are expected to be some of the busiest nights of the year.

The officer leading the operation, Superintendent Steve Beard, said: “It’s our aim to ensure everyone coming to our town centres has a safe night out over the festive season and we’re working closely with local pubs and clubs, and other local partners to help protect people.

“We know the vast majority of people will behave themselves and just want to have a good night out. However, for anyone intent on causing trouble our message is clear; we will take action and you could be spending the festive season in the cells.

“Our advice to everyone going out over the Christmas period is look after yourself, look after your mates and make sure you all get home safely.”

Anyone who feels unsafe on a night out is urged to seek help immediately from a police officer, a member of staff at the venue or in an emergency dial 999.
