A JEWELLERY entrepreneur has been named among the most inspirational businesswomen in the country.
Jo Stroud, owner of Leamington-based designer jewellery retailer Fabulous, picked up the the Hera Award – for the most inspirational woman running a business trading for over ten years – at the recent NatWest Everywoman Businesswoman of the Year awards.
Jo has had a shop in the Royal Priors for 12 years, another in Solihull’s Touchwood Centre, and one in Bath. She also launched her own jewellery brand Mantra two years ago.
Jo was one of the first high street stockists of many leading jewellery brands, including Pandora and Thomas Sabo, through her Fabulous stores.
After her suppliers pulled out to start their own stand-alone high street stores, they quickly became her competitors, prompting Jo to set up Mantra Jewellery focused on developing her own brands.
Jo said: “I was absolutely thrilled and very honoured to win a NatWest Everywoman Award given to recognise female entrepreneurs across the country.
“The judges recognised that we have continued to evolve Fabulous, my retail jewellery business, moving from being a pure retailer, to now also being a designer, manufacturer and brand owner, with our Mantra Jewellery brand.
“We remain committed to high street retail in Leamington, Solihull and Bath, but we have also developed Mantra as an online brand, to appeal to a different type of shopper.’
This year’s ceremony, held at The Dorchester in London, marked the 15th anniversary of the awards recognising the achievements of the UK’s female entrepreneurs.
