A FAMILY has been left shaken after their car was targeted in an arson attack.

The Wyldbore-Smith family from Ufton discovered their BMW car alight at around 8pm on Sunday (September 24) after their eldest son Thomas raised the alarm.

The 19 year-old was just finishing packing before being driven to university in York that day. As his bedroom is above the drive he heard the tyres exploding.

His parents along with brother Zach, age 10, and sister India, age 13, were also in the house and have been left shaken by the attack.

CCTV taken of the blaze shows two young people running away from the car carrying petrol cans.

Mum Nicola is now appealing for anyone with information to contact police.

She said: “Two youths were captured on the home CCTV camera – leaving the car as the petrol ignited.

“This must have been a premeditated planned attack as they came in through a side gate.

“These lads must have aquired the fuel from somewhere, someone must have seen them.”

Call police on 101 with any information.
