Family search for Leamington man who 'rescued' them from M40

A GRATEFUL young mum is trying to track down a Leamington man who helped her family when their car broke down.

Emely Keane was driving back from Peppa Pig World in Hampshire with her partner Ben and two year-old daughter Nora when their car broke down on the M40 near Warwick.

Stranded at the side of a dangerous road while they waited for a tow truck, the couple were understandably scared for the safety of their daughter.

Emely explained: “The part of the road where we broke down only has a little bit of grass then a ditch, so there was nowhere for us to go out of the car.”

And then a Good Samaritan came to their rescue

A passing motorist – who they only know was named Ian, from Leamingon, who worked as a printer technician – spotted the family and returned to pick them up and take them to the safety of the nearest service station.

On the way, the family realised it is actually illegal to leave a car alone on a motorway – even when broken down – so the kindhearted stranger took Ben back to the car to wait for the recovery vehicle.

All in all, it took the breakdown service more than three hours to get the family back on the road to their Lincoln home.

Emely and Ben reached out to the Observer to see if we could help track the mystery man down so they can thank him properly.

Emely said: “I am so grateful to Ian, who is a saint in my opinion. He is such a selfless, amazing man who we sadly got so few details from in the chaos.”
