Famous face fronts Shipston Home Nursing Christmas appeal

SHIPSTON Home Nursing has launched its first Christmas appeal in recent years due to a desperate need for cash.

The campaign video is fronted by the charity’s famous patron, actor Anton Lesser who calls on the community to make a donation.

Shipston Home Nursing needs to raise over £550,000 to continue its work and this is the first time in recent years the charity has asked residents for their help.

Charity spokesperson Kate Bamford said: “It is rare for us to directly ask our community for their support. We provide end of life care for patients in Shipston, Wellesbourne, Kineton and the surrounding villages. Our care is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and is completely free of charge.

“We need to raise over £550,000 to keep doing what we do, and we’re currently spending more on delivering patient care than we are raising. This Christmas, we’re asking our wonderful community for any level of financial support they might be able to offer.”

Filmed at Winchcombe Farm, the appeal also features Jo Carroll, whose mother was cared for by Shipston Home Nursing, and her son Bob. People can donate whatever they wish, from £1 upwards, with suggested guidelines including £54 which pays for an hour of nursing on Christmas Day.
