BUDDING Leamington authors have let their imaginations flow – with the encouragement of a well-known face.
Writers suffering from autism have been taking part in a course designed to show them how write and improve their confidence.
Leamington-based author Eileen Mulligan – who has written a number of self-help books – ran the course and says was impressed with the group.
She told the Observer: “I’ve been hugely impressed by how hard they have worked.
“They’ve produced creative and imaginative stories and the lessons have been great fun too.
“The emphasis is on improving their confidence to write, increasing their word-bank, having fun with language and letting their imagination flow.”
And TV weather presenter and travel writer Sian Lloyd recently joined the group to give advice on writing a travel blog.
Along with showing them tips and techniques the group were also encouraged to use their senses to help improve their writing.
Eileen said: “Having a special guest meant a lot to the group and it’s invaluable to their self-esteem to have a lesson from a well-known face.”
