Fast women heading to educational days at British Motor Museum

FAST women will be joining youngsters at the British Motor Museum later this month

The Gaydon museum will host two special STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Careers days for secondary school pupils on June 27 an 28.

The first day will be a Girls in STEM Day, providing a safe space for girls to meet with industry professionals and inspirational women from the STEM workforce.

The day will begin with a presentation and Q&A with Jenny Eyes, digital Ppoduct chief at Jaguar Land Rover.




And a a day of activities, pupils will have the chance to meet Eliza Seville, Formula Woman 2022 winner and mechanic and test pilot at Roborace, and Chloe Grant from Laser Tools GB4 Racing Team, to discover what it takes to be a successful woman in motorsport.

The following day, the museum will host a STEM Careers Day open to all pupils. After an presentation from industry partners, pupils will take an interactive tour of the collection, race remote-controlled Jaguar D-types around a special track, try out some hands-on science activities with the STEM ambassadors from MoD Kineton and much more.


Their day will culminate with a special presentation from Eliza.

Claire Broader, from the museum’s learning and engagement team, said: “We hope our STEM Careers Days will inspire and empower the engineers and scientists of the future! It will be an exciting day of immersive and interactive learning in a unique setting, surrounded by our amazing collection of historic British cars.”

The cost is £12.50 per pupil. The museum’s travel support scheme is also available to help cover schools’ transport costs.

* The British Motor Museum has opened a new exhibition entitled ‘The Gallery: Auto Art at the British Motor Museum’ which will run until June 30.

The exhibition, which is run in collaboration with Historic Car Art, features a collection of over 30 motoring-related pieces from seven of Britain’s most creative automotive artists and sculptors.
