Feel Good Festival to honour Leamington community champion

Leamington Editorial 23rd Mar, 2024   0

A MUCH-missed community champion is being honoured with a festival in Leamington.

The first ever Feel Good Festival is being hosted by the SYDNI Centre and is inspired by the life and work of the town’s late community champion Stephen Boyer.

The festival, on Saturday March 30, will feature live music, comedy and hands-on workshops and will be opened by Stephen’s sister Louise Jennings at 11am.

All the musical acts were favourites of Stephen’s including acoustic music legends Keith Donnelly, Lauren South, Kevin Dempsey, Andi Wolf and the ukulele orchestra Spa’kulele.

There will be improvised comedy from Leamington’s popular Leamprov and lively performance poetry from Hugh Reynolds and Matt Black.

There will also be plenty of opportunities for festival goers to join in workshops in songwriting, comedy, creative writing, drama, and art. Additionally, there will be chances to sing, play and speak with others at compered open stages and lively jam sessions.

To wrap up the day, there will be a community rock and roll dance with music provided by Leamington’s Mystery Train rock and roll band.

In memory of Stephen, the festival will be raising cash for Creative Experiences for Children.
