A VETERINARY practice has received three international accolades for its feline-friendly care.
Avonvale Veterinary Centres, which has seven practices across Warwickshire, has been recognised by the prestigious International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) as delivering excellent care for cats.
Its Stratford and Kenilworth surgeries have just been awarded silver accreditation as cat friendly clinics by the ISFM, while its Warwick surgery has retained its silver award for a third year.
Each surgery had to show that it offers high-quality treatment, support and privacy for cats. This includes separate cat waiting areas, quiet consulting rooms and cosy cat wards with visual barriers to provide patients with a sense of security.
Using cat-specific equipment – from blood pressure monitors to weighing scales – and feline pheromone diffusers also helps to reduce levels of stress.
Andrea Davies, Avonvale senior vet and cat advocate, said: “I’m so proud of the teams at Avonvale who have worked very hard to provide fantastic support for our feline patients and their owners.
“Cats can find it very stressful to be taken out of their usual environment, particularly when they’re unwell.
“It’s really important to make a visit to the vet as calm as possible. If our cat patients feel relaxed, they’re easier to treat, which helps them get better sooner.
“Our cat-friendly clinic awards show how the Avonvale team is always striving to provide better care for pets.”
Avonvale Veterinary Centres has been caring for animals for more than 40 years. It has surgeries in Warwick, Southam, Kenilworth, Wellesbourne, Stratford, Cubbington, and Heathcote.
In addition to its cat-friendly clinic awards, the practice is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
