Film star flies into falconry show

A FILM star flew into Stratford at the weekend.

The mention of Kes at Stratford Racecourse on Saturday and Sunday did not for once refer to Shakespeare’s old school, but rather to

Ken Loach’s classic 1970 film which starred David Bradley as Billy Casper.

It told the story of a 15-year-old working class Yorkshire boy who finds a purpose to his humdrum life when he tames and trains a pet kestrel – until tragedy strikes.

Memories came flooding back for the actor who was guest of honour at the first ever birds of prey British Speed Trials & Falconry event held at the racecourse.

Falcon racing is already big in the United Arab Emirates and organisers hope to make it just as big in Britain.
