Emergency services have issued advice for drivers and those affected by flooding.

Police are advising caution when driving after a car rolled down a motorway embankment on the M40.

Officers were called to the northbound carriageway between Junction 12 and Warwick Services at around 11am today (Thursday).

The car rolled down the embankment a number of times.

A police spokesman said: “With the wet weather set to continue over the coming days, we are reminding motorists to slow down and drive to the weather conditions.”

Heavy rain across Warwickshire has left some homes in Wellesbourne flooded.

Those in Church Walk, Bridge Street, Chapel Street and Willow Drive are understood to have been struck by flooding from the River Dene.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue tweeted the following warning:  “If you do come across flood water, please do not drive through it. You will get stuck and you could endanger not only your life, but the lives of those who come to rescue you.”

It is understood some 50 schools have been closed across Warwickshire.
