Focused on the magic of Warwickshire's waterways

THE MAGIC of Warwickshire’s waterways has been captured on camera.

The Warwickshire Waterways Photography Competition was organised by Warwickshire county Council, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and the Canal and River Trust.

Photographers of all ages and abilities were invited to submit their pictures showcasing ‘nature and wildlife on the waterways’ on the county’s canals and rivers.

From the shortlisted photos (pictured here), two winners were chosen who both focused their lenses on the Oxford Canal.

Gillian Taylor’s shot near Brinklow won the adult category, while Lily Hobson at Ansty was judged the 15 and under category winner. Each received a £50 voucher for photography equipment from the Canal and River Trust.

WCC environment spokeswoman Heather Timms said: “The shortlisted images epitomise the tranquillity and natural beauty of our waterways, each in their own unique and creative way. “We’ve seen pictures from across our county, from popular beauty spots to little-known local treasures, taken by people of all ages and backgrounds. It’s wonderful to think of people getting out in nature and being able to benefit from spending time near our canals and rivers while capturing these photos, and we hope seeing these stunning scenes will encourage many others to do the same.”
