Football coach slows down the pace to launch walking team

A FOOTBALL coach is slowing down the pace to make the sport accessible for more people.

Adam Burley, who is coach and manager to the Coventry City Girls team and Under 18s, has always believed the sport needs to be more diverse.

And after hearing about walking football teams starting elsewhere across the county, he decided to start his own.

The football-lover said: “I have always loved football but feel it still has some way to go to include a greater diversity of players.

“Finding out more about walking football I decided it would be a fantastic way to encourage more people into, or back to, football.

“Due to the nature of walking football it is a safer, lower impact way for people to still enjoy football and especially suited to those less mobile or aged 50 and above.”

Sessions will be held between midday and 1pm at Warwickshire College Sport Hall on New Warwick Road.

Tickets cost £4 and entry to the first session is free.
