Football fans called on to donate kits to disadvantaged children

FOOTBALL fans are being called on to donate their kits to disadvantaged children in Malawi.

Matt Black heard from a friend who visits the African country, who told him about children at a charity school which is being run at a former refugee camp.

Kapalamula School, which educates nearly 1,500 pupils, holds half of all classes outside due to lack of space.

The school has a serious shortage of equipment, teachers and facilities, with just four toilets in the whole building.

But kind-hearted donors from across the globe are working together to improve the situation for youngsters at the school.

Matt from Leamington is one of those who is seeking to support the school and is now calling on fellow football fans across the district to donate old kits which will then be sent to the school.

He said: “We are seeking football kit for a shipment that is going out to Malawi in late January.

“Shirts, socks, shorts, boots or trainers of any size all are welcome. The people in Malawi love football but don’t have money for any kit or equipment so this is where we want to help.”

Any donations can be taken to 44 Gresham Avenue in Lillington on Sunday (January 21) between noon and 5pm.
