A CHRISTMAS concert helped a former councillor say thank you to staff at Warwick Hospital.

Former Warwick District Council chairman Michael Doody has been receiving treatment for cancer at Warwick Hospital.

And the Radford Semele resident hosted a charity Christmas concert at Leamington Town Hall and a ‘Strawberry versus Blueberry’ cake sale, which raised nearly £3,000 which he donated to Prostate Cancer Research and the Urology Unit at the Lakin Road hospital.

Coun Doody said: “I have been receiving treatment from the Urology Unit at Warwick Hospital and every aspect of the service I have received from the staff in this unit has been first class.

“I would particularly like to thank my consultant Mr Lewis. I am therefore delighted to be able to give a donation to the Urology Unit Charity Fund to support the wonderful work they do for patients in our district.”

Consultant Chris Lewis thanked Coun Doody.

He added: “The money will be a great way to fund urological cancer screening materials and training, which is all part of our aim to speed up the cancer pathway.”
