THE FORMER Homebase in Warwick has been demolished to make way for supermarket Lidl.
The shop on Emscote Road has been torn down this week and building is expected to begin next month.
In its place will stand the German supermarket chain, which originally had its plans
rejected over traffic concerns.
A number of residents complained about the proposal fearing it would add to congestion on the already traffic-choked main route between Warwick and Leamington.
But after councillors were told the store would not be as busy as its rival Aldi, the proposals were approved.
Lidl also has a store on the Myton Road in Leamington.
