Fresh new look for Warwick restaurant

THE GIGGLING Squid in Warwick has a fresh new look.

The High Street restaurant serving award-winning authentic Thai cuisine has become a firm favourite with diners over recent years.

And now customers are greeted by a fresh contemporary, almost upmarket beach hut like look, with stripped wood floors and wonderful climbing floral arrangements, which will have diners dreaming of the faraway golden beaches of South East Asia.

One thing that has not changed is the warm welcome and the quality of the food. It is the foundation of a chain which has grown rapidly from its humble beginnings in Brighton 20 years ago.

Authenticity has always been the key at Giggling Squid. Take the Salt & Pepper Squid starter. How many restaurants serve up rubber masquerading as squid. At Giggling Squid it’s a best seller for a reason – beautifully succulent squid in a light crispy coating.

Mains from land and sea, curries, stir fries, Thai tapas, an extensive vegan menu, as well as a kids’ menu. The only headache facing diners is choosing what to have.

We opted for the Spicy & Tasty Chicken – a stir-fry dish which was exactly as its name suggests. Chicken breast strips with galangal, lemongrass, lime leaves, garlic and the ginger-like krachai. One for those who like a little fire.

And we also enjoyed the equally tasty and hearty Pad Kee Mao – spicy large flat noodles with tenderstem broccoli, lotus stem, pak choi, sweetheart cabbage, chilli and garlic, with yellow curry marinated grilled chicken.

There are desserts for those who have the room – of which we can recommended the light and refreshing Lychee Yoghurt Ice Cream.

All are served by staff who are friendly and helpful, without being overbearing, and who are clearly knowledgable.

Giggling Squid co-founder, Andy Laurillard said: “We believe food should be celebrated, and simply want people to relax and have a great time over something tasty!

“Like every Giggling Squid, our revamped Warwick restaurant has its own personal touch to it. Our dream is to recreate the spirit of Thai mealtimes, with a warm and inviting atmosphere as if guests have been invited to dine in our home.

“We hope the beautifully redesigned space will bring a lot of pleasure to our visitors and we’re so excited to welcome everyone in the Warwick community to enjoy the sparkling new-look restaurant.”
