A FUND-RAISER has been recognised for her efforts supporting those with sight loss.
Debbie White was diagnosed with Usher syndrome around 40 years ago, leaving her with hearing and sight loss .
But instead of letting her condition stop her, the 54-year-old from Leamington has been tirelessly fund-raising since 1994 to support others.
She co-founded and chairs Fight for Sight Warwickshire which she set up 25 years ago. Each year since she has organised a golf event at Stoneleigh Golf Club, this year raising £19,000.
She has also previously taken on skydives and cycle challenges.
It is her dedication to supporting those who are visually impaired which led to Debbie winning a Third Sector Award in the Volunteer of the Year category.
She said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won this fantastic award. The research projects Fight for Sight fund are so important to understand conditions like mine.
“We will only find better treatments and solutions for sight loss through research, hence my passion for fundraising for such an amazing charity.”
