Fund-raisers leap to the challenge for Warwick Avon Dragon Boat Festival

FROGGY fund-raisers leapt to the challenge for the Warwick Avon Dragon Boat Festival.

More than 400 rowers took part in the race, organised by the Rotary of Warwick Avon, in aid of The Myton Hospices and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The Froggy Paddlers team dressed for the occasion and won second prize for their outfits, missing out to a Harry Potter lookalike team. Bovis Homes sponsored the team as well as donating £150 to the cause.

Spokeswoman Stephanie Spry, whose husband took part in the competition, said: “It was a close fought race and a huge amount of fun.

“Our children loved the day with all the colourful costumes and excitement on the river.

“The Harry Potter team definitely deserved to win best dressed – they looked great. The judging panel was made up of children and they were very enthusiastic!

“We’re so happy that such a fun day contributed towards the fantastic work and service provided by The Myton Hospices and Birmingham Children’s Hospital and can’t wait for next year.”
