Future of council headquarters in Leamington up for discussion

COUNCIL chiefs are set to discuss the future of their Riverside House headquarters in Leamington.

Following the conclusion of the public consultation on the future regeneration of the site of Warwick District Council’s HQ on Milverton Hill, the council’s Cabinet will now decide whether to move forward with the updated Draft Development Brief.

The public consultation which ran for ten weeks over the summer sought to gain views on the council’s plans for the development of the site.

The survey results saw two-thirds of the public support for the development of the site. Some 20 per cent supported the development plan in its current form, and the remaining supported the brief with some amendments, many of which have been incorporated into the updated brief.

WDC leader Coun Andrew Day said: “The future of this important site required new thinking, I am therefore pleased that we have received very positive feedback from our online sessions and have had the opportunity to have a constructive dialogue with a number of key stakeholders.

“On the back of the consultation officers have been able to update the brief to take into account the key issues raised, such as further provision of affordable housing, the retention of trees and green spaces and connectivity to the town and river.

“I look forward to the discussion at Cabinet on the proposals.”

The updated Draft Development Brief will go to the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
