PLAY at the Bowls England National Championships was put on hold this afternoon as the Royal Leamington Spa Bowls Club welcomed a very special guest.

As part of its tour around the world, the Commonwealth Games Baton made an official visit to Leamington ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Terry Alcock, Bowls England Chief Executive, Viv Tomlinson, Bowls England President, and Louise Martin, Commonwealth Games Federation President, were on hand to display the baton in front of a large crowd.

After the presentation of one of the greens, the baton was transported to the VIP tent – where visitors were able to pose for photographs.
