A LITTLE corner of Italy in the heart of Warwick is no more.

Giovanni’s Restaurant has been serving pasta, tirimasu and other Italian favourites for nearly three decades but Giovanni and Silvana Castroflippo served their final dishes last weekend.

The couple, who have poured their heart and soul into the Smith Street restaurant for the past 28 years, have decided it time for a break and are retiring.

Their three sons Filippo, Giuseppe and Salvatore all worked in the restaurant as they were growing up but each followed career paths away from the restaurant. Giovanni and Silvana are now looking forward to spending more time with their children and five grandchildren.

Giovanni also plans to continue to tend his allotment where he grew many of the vegetables he used in the kitchen at teh resturant.

Silvana told The Observer: “We have had a lovely time owning the restaurant and want to say thank you to our customers for being so supportive. It has been a real pleasure to work and live in Warwick in this time.”
