Green-fingered youngsters lend a hand with Heart of England in Bloom bid

GREEN-FINGERED youngsters have helped Leamington stay on track for success in this year’s Heart of England in Bloom competition.

Schoolchildren from across the town nurtured their own plants to add to the floral train at Jephson Gardens and the nearby railway station.

They joined town mayor Bill Gifford to mark the start of the official judging of the town’s floral gardens and displays.

Organisers hope to continue their track record and scoop the gold award for the fourth year running.

Coun Gifford said: “It was a wonderful day the sun shone and the children enjoyed seeing their flowers displayed in the floral train.

“This is the 14th year that our schools and nurseries from in and around the town have taken part in a project to grow blooms for the two floral trains.

“And this year for the first time, residents from Cubbington Mill Care Home have also taken part in the project growing their plants which now also sit proudly in the trains.”
