A QUIZ-loving Harry Potter fan has used the knowledge of her favourite books to reach the semi-finals of Mastermind.
Newbold Pacey resident Madeline Grant won the opening round of the long-running BBC quiz show, scooping a full house of 15 answers in her specialist subject – the Harry Potter books.
The 25-year-old then went on to triumph in a general knowledge round, and is now set to face more questions in the famous black chair when she competes in the semi-finals, with the novels of Jane Austin as her specialist subject.
A love of the show runs in the family. Her mum appeared three years ago and also made the semi-finals before being knocked out.
Madeline, who works as a digital officer in Westminster, said: “I was very surprised to win my round, as it was so close and very nerve-wracking.
“I really enjoyed preparing for Mastermind, as I’ve been a big fan of quizzing since my time at school, and it was a great excuse to dip back into the Harry Potter books.”
Madeline’s semi-final appearance will be aired later this year.
