Hatton's Big Help Out turns spotlight on volunteering

THE SPOTLIGHT will be on volunteering at Hatton Country World on Monday (May 8).

Hatton’s Big Help Out – Help For Happiness, part of the celebrations around King Charles’ Coronation, aims to raise awareness of volunteering in the UK by showing people how they can volunteer and make a difference in their communities, all in line with the King’s ‘Big Help Out’ national initiative.

The event is being run by a team of volunteers who have donated their time and services to help raise as much money as possible for three charities – the Three Roses Homes, a residential care home for adults with learning disabilities in Worcestershire, SSAFA (the Armed Forces Charity) and Scotty’s Little Soldiers (charity for bereaved military children).

Arabella Arkwright will be signing the Armed Forces Covenant, thereby committing Hatton to support military personnel where possible with employment opportunities.

Visitors will be able to enjoy activities including target paint-ball shooting, a dog show with four different fun categories, tug-of-war competition, military vehicles and military village, laser combat, music from a Fusilier Band, zorbing, tug-a-war, foam party, village fete activities, and a performance from the Three Roses Homes. There will also be live music and stalls selling street food.

Arabella, co-owner of Hatton Country World said, “The three charities we have chosen are important to us, especially the Three Roses Homes. Thomas, along with the other residents regularly visit Hatton and we have enormous love for them. We want to be able to help such a caring and loving home. Everyone who has helped put ‘Hatton’s Big Help Out – Help for Happiness’ together has been so incredibly generous, and we hope as many people as possible come along to support this very special event”.

Tickets start from £5 and must be booked online. To enter each category at the dog show is £5 and to enter a team of six into the Tug of War is £45. For more information and to book tickets visit
