Healthy lifestyle scheme for families in Southam

Leamington Editorial 15th Dec, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

FAMILIES wanting to get fit are being encouraged to sign up to a new lifestyle programme in Southam.

The nine-week Change Makers course is open to families with children aged between 4 and 13 years old who live in the town and its surrounding area.

Each course provides healthy eating advice – covering everything from healthy lunchboxes to shopping on a budget – as well as giving families the chance to take part in different sports such as indoor hockey and boxing.

It is hoped they will become happier and healthier as a result of taking part in the scheme.

Organised by Rugby Borough Council and funded by Public Health Warwickshire as part of its Fitter Futures programme, the free courses have already been running successfully in Rugby for the past four years.

The programme, which aims to be both fun and informative, is designed to help families adopt a healthier lifestyle by improving their diet while also increasing the amount of exercise they do.

The course, which begins on Tuesday January 12, is set to take place at Southam Leisure Centre each week from 4pm to 5.30pm.

Email fitterfutures@rugby.gov.uk or call 01788 533721 to sign up to the programme.
