THERE’s much at stake in The Seafarer at Leamington’s Loft Theatre.
Conor McPherson multi award-winning play is set in a house in County Dublin, on Christmas Eve in 2006, where four men, well known to each other, plus one stranger, drink, argue, laugh and cajole each other.
The arrival of the stranger from the distant past changes the mood and they finally all take part in a game of cards, where the stakes for two of those present are set higher than any amount of money.
The production is co-directed by Tom O’Connor and David Hankins.
Tom O’Connor said: “Conor McPherson follows the great Irish tradition of the ‘seanchaí’ (Irish for storyteller) as he weaves a multitude of narratives into a raucous, funny and emotional rollercoaster ride of a play.”
The Seafarer runs from February 23 to March 5.
