History brought to life in Warwick for teens visiting from Chernobyl

HISTORY was brought to life in Warwick for teenagers visiting from Chernobyl.

The group, who are all in remission from cancer, was invited to explore Warwick Castle along with deputy mayor of Warwick Neale Murphy and Rotary Club president David Smith.

The teenagers were accompanied by costumed actors as they clambered up ramparts, had a lesson in archery, met the birds of prey, and toured the castle dungeons.

Chernobyl Children’s Project UK organised the two week trip for those impacted by the nuclear disaster in the region of Ukraine – then the Soviet Union – more than 30 years ago. The area remains highly contaminated, affecting the air, water, and locally grown food.
