Homes across Warwick district to get health check

HOMES across the district are getting a health check.

Warwick District Council, as well as looking after 5,500 council homes, is also responsible for monitoring the quality of privately rented and owned homes.

The council’s housing team undertakes a survey every five years of privately rented and owner-occupied properties. Building specialists Arcus Consulting has been appointed to complete the ‘Stock Condition’ survey of 1,300 randomly selected occupied and privately rented properties.

Surveyors from the company will be visiting homes on behalf of the council to look at the age and general condition of the buildings, any health and safety issues, and energy efficiency.

The surveys should take around 45 minutes to complete and the council is urging the assistance and cooperation of tenants, landlords and home-owners chosen.

District housing spokesman Coun Peter Phillips said: “The council takes the standard of accommodation and wellbeing of all residents living in our district very seriously.

“This survey will help to provide us with a comprehensive picture of property conditions across all types of property whether rented or owned, which will help us develop our future housing policy and help ensure investment is made where it is most needed.”

The survey, which starts on Monday (August 20), is expected to take up to six months. Once completed the results will be published on the council’s website.

All surveyors will carry photographic Arcus Consulting Identification. Anyone with concerns can contact [email protected] or call 01926 456358 for further information.
