Hundreds turn out for annual Whitnash Christmas Light switch-on

A CLEAR sky greeted crowds in Whitnash on Sunday night as hundreds turned out for the annual festive light switch-on.

Organised by volunteers from Whitnash Town Council, the event took place at the Plough & Harrow pub with the help of generous donations from residents and businesses.

Crowds were entertained by two dance acts, Ignite Youth Dance and Fit 2 Dance, two live bands, the Un-Wanted and The Intruders.

Father Christmas also took time out of his busy winter schedule to make a special guest appearance and John Gordon provided a magical touch.

The usual fairground attractions and charity stalls were present as Mayor of Whitnash Coun Simon Button, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire presenter Vic Minnett, Tina Venuto and Naina Patel switched the lights on.

To add to the festive celebrations, a team of people will be travelling around the town on Sunday (December 18) to judge the lighting displays on the houses and businesses.

Awards for the best house will be presented at the first Town Council meeting to be held on Thursday (January 19).
