Improve mental health by embracing nature urges Leamington community group

A COMMUNITY group is urging people to embrace nature and improve their mental health.

Achieving Results in Communities Community Interest Company (Arc Cic) transforms unused land into open spaces and its volunteers have previously worked their magic on the likes of Foundry Wood and Packington Place in Leamington.

And the organisation will be further promoting its work after receiving a £2,000 grant from the Heart of England Community Foundation.

It was chosen by accountants from Harrison Beale & Owen who were asked by the foundation to select a worthwhile charity to support.

Arc Cic director Kristie Naimo said: “Getting outside and enjoying nature is so important for our physical and mental health – research has shown being in green environments reduces blood pressure, which can contribute to stress.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to find an outdoor activity to suit them.

“People wishing to reconnect with nature can join a walking group, attend one of many gardening sessions at centres across the district, or attend an ‘ecotherapy’ session at Foundry Wood.”
