In tune to help raise funds for Ukraine

CLASSICAL recording companies have turned-up together to raise funds for Ukrainian humanitarian relief.

Leamington-based Presto Music, in collaboration with the classical record labels BIS, Chandos, Delphian, Naxos and Toccata, have put together a selection of 12 recordings by key Ukrainian composers from the 18th to the 21st centuries – available on CD/SACD and download. Visit www.prestomusic.com/classical/articles/4585–announcement-humanitarian-fundraiser-for-ukraine for full details.

The labels are providing the discs free of charge, and also covering the royalties and copyrights, while Presto is handling the sales, logistics and shipping.

This means that 100 per cent of the sales revenues will go directly to humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Presto is providing context to each recording, explaining why it was chosen and what is special about it.

Chris O’Reilly, chief executive of Presto Music, said: “The dual opportunity to explore this largely neglected repertoire whilst raising much-needed money for this cause is one which we’re sure classical music fans worldwide will embrace.”

Ralph Couzens, managing director of Chandos Records, added: “The chance for the classical recording industry to come together like this is our small way of doing what we can to raise funds for our friends in Ukraine.”

Presto Music has also launched a similar campaign in its sheet music department. Visit www.prestomusic.com/sheet-music/articles/4589–announcement-humanitarian-fundraiser-for-ukraine for details.

The initiative is expected to raise in excess of £10,000 and all funds will be donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal via the Red Cross – donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal
