Inspirational women to be celebrated on International Women's Day

INSPIRATIONAL women will be celebrated during International Women’s Day at the Sydni Centre in Leamington.

Workshops, speakers and international food will all feature at the event on Wednesday (March 8) from 11am to 5pm.

Sydni Centre manager Kate Cliffe said: “Whilst the event itself is for women only, the is an opportunity to celebrate all the inspirational women in our lives with a focus on our grandmothers.

“We are running a project called ‘Where did your Granny grow up?’ and people are invited to send in memorable stories and photos of their grandmothers which will be collated into a book.”

University of Warwick student Selina Jane Spencer is leading the project.

She added: “We’ve already received some fantastic stories from local women about their grandmothers – many of whom grew up overseas or who didn’t get to know their grandmothers well.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to share stories about the women who inspire us. We’re happy to hear about any woman family member if you don’t have stories about your grandmother.”
