INTERNATIONAL students flew the flag at Warwickshire College.

An international fair at the college’s Leamington centre saw students from 15 countries – from Saudi Arabia to Sweden – promote their homelands through displays of food, currency and photos, while some also donned traditional dress and the odd football shirt in Brazil’s case.

Leamington mayor Ann Morrison, who visited the fair, said, “It was wonderful to meet the students – I didn’t realise so many countries would be represented and from all over the world.

“I hope they’ve learned a lot from being here in Britain and take it with them. It’s also good for our British students to learn about so many other cultures too.”

Aurey Elita Malvestiti from Brazil enjoyed taking part in the fair.

“I had the opportunity to get to know the culture of other countries, meet new people and show off my country. It was fantastic.”

Carlos Rodriguez, international academic manager at the college, added, the fair was a rewarding event for all involved.

He said: “Our international students were proud to showcase their countries to the rest of the college and also benefited from practising their English language with fellow international students, British students, college staff and the Mayor of Leamington.”
