FAMOUS graffiti artist Banksy could have been working in Leamington.
A piece of street art depicting George Osbourne with a red nose has appeared on a wall behind the new Helping Hands charity shop on Gloucester Street.
At the bottom of the work it has the signature ‘Banksy’ – and so far no one else has come forward to claim it as their own.
The charity – which supports homeless and vulnerable people – say they did not know anything about the artwork until it appeared on their wall.
Spokeswoman Lianne Kirkman told the Observer: “It just appeared in the back alley at the back of our shop and someone pointed out it said Banksy on the bottom of it, which I hadn’t even noticed.
“I mentioned it to a few other people and they said I should check it out to see if it’s a real Banksy. I just presumed it was fake but others have been showing an interest in it, so now I’m intrigued. I think it must be a fake but it’s caused a bit of a stir.”
