A CHEF from Kenilworth kept her cool in the kitchen to scoop a world title.
Mary Palecek was named the Young Conference Centre Chef of the Year at the Global Copper Skillet Competition in Los Angeles.
The 25 year-old sous-chef, who works at Woodside hotel, had just half an hour to impress judges with her creation from a mystery basket of ingredients and fresh goods.
The former European champion wowed judges with her pan fried sirloin steak, with sautéed vegatables and poached sea bass and exotic tomato salsa.
Mary said: “It was a fantastic experience to represent Europe in such a prestigious competition. I’m honoured to have won the Global title, and still in shock! This is a real highlight of my career.”
