Kindness Advent calendar aims to raise awareness of support and wellbeing

Leamington Editorial 12th Dec, 2020   0

A KINDNESS Advent calendar has opened its doors on the Warwickshire County Council website.

Every day a random act of kindness will be shared along with some signposting to support available in Warwickshire, to offer people a little extra help.

Each week in December features a theme, looking at importance of giving, caring, community, and mental and physical wellbeing.

Leader of Warwickshire County Council Coun Izzi Seccombe said: “Over recent months Warwickshire’s residents and communities have shown kindness in many ways and as an organisation we recognise how important this has been in helping us all navigate the challenges of the recent months. Acts of kindness are very often captured in the small gestures that can make a big difference to someone’s day.

“As we enter the Christmas period we want the kindness to continue and through our advent calendar and social media channels we will be sharing some simple messages of kindness, ways to share good feeling and look after ourselves and each other.”

The first week in December focused on giving with information on timebanking – a movement where people offer up an hour of their time and skills in return for someone else’s.
