Leamington accountants complete Midnight Walking Marathon for Ukraine

STAFF at a Leamington accountancy firm banked £10,000 for Ukraine after completing a Midnight Walking Marathon.

The 27 members of staff from CTT Accountancy walked 26.2 miles through the night around Leamington to raise the vital funds for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Led by Amy O’Keeffe and Lucy Miles, the team set out on their walking marathon at midnight after a full day’s work, finishing back at their starting point of Gables House in the early hours of the following morning.

The fundraising idea was born when long-time CTT employee Kinga Musialik visited Poland. While there, she met Ukrainian refugees and heard many heart-wrenching stories. Those she met had been fortunate enough to escape the misery of the war in Ukraine, but many of them had loved ones who were still there, enduring unimaginable terror.

Staff at CTT Group were incredibly moved by this and it sparked a desire to help.

Initially, Lucy and Amy had the idea for the Midnight Marathon and presumed they’d be walking it by themselves.

Amy said: “We did not expect to have 25 people wanting to join us which was really encouraging and motivating. What a good job it was that we did have the others join us as it was definitely the team spirit and positive attitude all around which kept us going.

“We’re extremely proud of our fundraisers and couldn’t be more grateful for all the support and donations, meaning we have raised an incredible £10,000 for the British Red Cross.”
