CHRISTMAS officially got underway in Leamington at the weekend.
The Parade was abuzz with festive cheer as revellers enjoyed the Christmas market and fairground rides while tucking into into a mince pie or two.
On stage there were performances by Belle Harmonie, Jessica Rhodes Rochelle and District 12 while pupils from the Leamington and Warwick Dance Academy and UV Beats showed off a few moves.
The cast of Beauty and the Beast – this year’s pantomime at the Spa Centre – raised a smile and also welcomed the winners of their costume design competition to the stage wearing their enchanted creations.
People wrapped up warm and braved the November chill as the light faded to watch Santa Claus and Leamington mayor Ann Morrison throw the switch on the lights.
And to help festive folk with their Christmas shopping the market will be returning to The Parade every Sunday until the big day in December.
* The Victorian Evening and Christmas light switch-on takes place in Warwick this evening (Thursday) from 5pm.
There will be a Victorian Christmas market, traditional rides, Santa’s Grotto and much more, with the light switch on at 7pm.
