A BAR and restaurant in Leamington is simply the best in Warwickshire.

The House has been named ‘Best Pub  in Warwickshire’ in a national competition. As a county winner it will now compete for the national title in the National Pub & Bar Awards.

The House, located on the Parade opposite the town hall, only recently celebrated its first ‘birthday’ after an extensive refurbishment by new owners Freespirit Pubs.

Owner Mark Higgs told The Observer: “The whole team is thrilled to be named as the best pub in Warwickshire, particularly so soon after re-launching just over a year ago

“Everyone at House has worked really hard to make it the ‘go to’ place in Leamington ,and it’s great to have all our efforts rewarded. We’re now looking forward to June when we could be named as the best pub in the whole region, or even the UK. We’ve got everything crossed!”

House was judged on everything from interior design to outside space, customer service, menus and drinks lists.

The kitchen is headed up by Karolina Rosa, who also oversees the menus for Number 75, a more formal dining restaurant adjoining The House, with an entrance on Bedford Street.

Number 75 was launched as a pop-up in November, but such has been its success, it is now a permanent fixture.

Passionate about creating seasonal menus inspired by global food trends, Karolina also works closely with, and is a fervent supporter of the best local artisan suppliers.

The House also offers a busy schedule of weekly entertainment, with regular live music, DJ and Open Mike nights and a changing comedy line-up every Tuesday evening.

And on the second floor it has a loft space for private parties, dinners and events.

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, which runs the National Pub & Bar Awards, said: “This is an industry that never stands still – the operators of the best pubs have to be at the top of their game 100 per cent of the time.

“Our county winners are shining examples of that energy and creativity. They are what makes the pubs and bars of the UK so renowned. The team at House are to be congratulated on reaching our Grand Final.”

The national winner will be named at a ceremony in London on June at 26.
