Leamington Chess Club celebrate season of success

Leamington Editorial 29th Aug, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

CHECKMATING opponents has become something of a habit for chess players in Leamington.

Leamington Chess Club enjoyed a successful season beating teams from across Warwickshire to scoop two trophies in knockout competitions.

Club spokesman Rob Mantell said: “The club’s teams won in the under 700 and under 120 grade categories and have a team topping division four. It all adds up to a season to be proud of.

“We are really proud of this medal haul and are looking forward to the new season.”

The chess club meets each Tuesday at the Oak House Club in Upper Holly Walk at 7.30pm.
