Leamington composer's music promotes new Star Wars film

THE MUSICAL force is strong for a Leamington composer whose song has been used in the new Star Wars trailer.

Harry Lightfoot was delighted when film bosses got in touch to see if his track ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ could be used on the advert for Star Wars: Rogue One.

The 31 year-old had recorded the song after being approached by an American record label. He spent a week recording an album at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, joined by percussionists, an 80 piece orchestra and 60-piece choir.

Harry, who lives in Leamington, told the Observer: “I compose music designed to be used in film trailers and earlier this year I was approached by a music label to compose some trailer music for their new album.

“We spent a whole week recording the album live at Abbey Road Studios which was an incredible experience.

“One of my tracks was then picked by Disney to feature in their latest TV trailer for Star Wars.

“I was very excited to hear it had been chosen. I’m a huge fan of all the Star Wars films and it’s fantastic to have my track feature.”

But it was not the first time one of award-nominated composer Harry’s songs has been used in a trailer.

Currently his music can be heard on the McDonald’s Christmas advert and he has previously been featured in adverts for Netflix’s ‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’, Fantastic 4 by Marvel and Disney’s Tomorrowland.

Harry, who started his musical career at the Birmingham Conservatoire, said: “The McDonalds advert is a completely different style of music, but just as much fun to do.

“I’ve had other great placements in film trailers but to add Star Wars to my credits is a huge thrill.”
