Leamington fire clean-up underway - still no news of unaccounted for worker

THERE is still no update on the unaccounted worker from yesterday’s massive industrial fire in Leamington.

Emergency services remained at the scene of the fire at Leeson Polyurethanes Ltd in Juno Drive overnight. The fire is under control but it is not expected to be completely extinguished for another couple of days.

Specialist police continue to support the family of the man unaccounted for. He has not been named.

Emergency services today launched an operation to remove fallen debris from the surrounding area. Debris has been reported as far away as Barford.




A fire service spokesperson said: “As a precautionary measure, the public is advised not to touch or attempt to clear debris in the meantime.”

There smoke covered a wide area and there is now concern about exactly what it contains. The Environment Agency has said it will be monitoring air quality closely over the coming days.


There has been widespread praise for all the emergency services on social media for their the handling of the blaze.

Many people have also shared thoughts for the family of the unaccounted for worker.
