Leamington litter picking venture hailed a great success

A MAJOR litter picking operation in Leamington has been far from rubbish.

Leam Trash Friends Spring Clean Up has been hailed a success, with volunteers collecting 589 sacks of litter, clearing 177 graffiti tags, retrieving six knives, retrieving 129 used needles and removing a significant amount of fly-tipped waste.

It culminated in a special town centre and Sydenham clean-up on Friday April 24 with National Grid, local businesses and residents.

Warwick District Council’s neighbourhood spokesperson Coun Will Roberts said: “Warwick District Council is pleased to support Leam Trash Friends in their work to keep our community clean and tidy. And we can all do our bit to help too – please use a litter bin when you’re out and about or take your rubbish home with you.”

And there are further litter picking events lined up for the Leam Trash Friends Summer Clean Up running on weekends until June 14.

Everyone is welcome and gloves, bags, tools and light refreshments will be provided.
