A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident at a house in Lillington.

Police were called to the property in Newland Road, close to the landmark Eden Court tower block, shortly before 6pm on Friday evening (August 26).

They arrived to find a woman in her 30s with stab wounds to her neck, back and abdomen.

She was taken to hospital and her condition is currently described as critical but stable.

Detective Inspector Jon Belcher said: “At this time we believe the suspect and victim were known to each other and there was no risk to the wider public.

“We will be continuing our inquiries at the house throughout the day.”

The 45-year-old man from Leamington was arrested at the house and remains in police custody while investigations continue.
