Leamington mayor calls on the town to don their pyjamas for charity

SLEEPY Leamington residents are being sent to bed early for the mayor’s latest fundraiser.

The town’s mayor Coun Nick Wilkins is calling on schools and businesses to join him in wearing their pyjamas or a onesie for the day on Friday December 2 in exchange for a £1 donation.

And all the cash raised during the town’s very first PJ day will go to the mayor’s chosen charity LWS Night Shelter. The charity supports homeless and vulnerably-housed local people by providing hot meals and food parcels, and are aiming to reopen for overnight stays in the near future.

Having been homeless in Leamington himself for a short time, LWS Night Shelter is very close to Nick’s heart.

He said: “I wanted to create a first and PJ Day is that. It is a bit of a fun way to raise money for my chosen charity LWS Night Shelter. Please get involved. Thank you to all the schools and local businesses that have already signed up to support the day.

“LWS Night Shelter is there for the homeless and those who often feel ignored to provide a hot meal and company for the vulnerably-housed members of the community in Leamington.”

The mayor’s thanks go to those schools and businesses that have signed up already including – St Patrick’s School, Arnold Lodge School, Campion School, SureStars Day Nursery, Evergreen School, Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Wilco, Reynolds Blinds, I Mill Street, Buzz Business, The Sydni Centre, Brunswick Hub and many more.
