Leamington Naval Choir on hunt for new members

Leamington Editorial 3rd Sep, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A TRADITIONAL male voice choir is on the hunt for new members.

First formed back in 1972, Leamington RNA male voice choir has been performing in the community for more than four decades.

Based at the RNA Club on Adelaide Road, the group has the unique honour of being England’s only Royal Naval Association male voice choir.

But although just three of its current members have naval connections – a requirement in the formative years – the choir is proud of its roots and retains connections with the Royal Naval Association.

It is now looking to attract new members and will be holding a free, informal taster recruitment evening next Monday (September 8) at the RNA Club from 7.30pm to 10pm.

Musical director Steve Height said: “We have supported many charities in the community over the years and now we need the help of the community to carry on the tradition of male voice choirs.

“We are a friendly group, which welcomes men from all walks of life and all ages so if you have ever been interested in singing, this is your opportunity.”

Those interested in attending the recruitment evening can email John on [email protected] or call 01926 774372.
